We have some new faces here on the farm and I don’t just mean Tiff, our apprentice.
Dave’s project this year is raising up and training a team of oxen. We now have two
young steers sharing the fields with the ladies of Olde Oak…and the girls aren’t quite
sure what to make of their new field mates yet…
So it’s June already! Farmer’s markets are back on and things are heating up here
finally. The ladies are out daily now…enjoying all kinds of yummy green things.
Those greens make more milk and we have an abundance of fresh, delicious goat
cheese at market to show for it! Come out and see us and share some of the
good stuff.
It’s official, our 2011 season has begun. Elsa had a girl and 2 boys this afternoon.
We’re looking forward to Opal and Sunny’s kids tomorrow!
1. Clean the barn…anyone want to lend a hand? (Just kidding!)
2. Find all the nipples. Nipple search!
3. Drink more beer…we need the bottles (empty) to feed the kids.
4. There are not enough clean towels in the world for all these kids!
5. Each year Jen looses the jump drive with our list of names for new kids…
guess what…She has no idea where it is. Maybe we’ll have the kids
named by August this year.
Elsa is up first. Due date: Thursday, March 11. Photos coming soon!
Making some cheddar today and thinking about which beautiful market in
August we’ll bring it to. March is just around the corner and soon
we’ll have fresh goat milk and tons of little kids running around the farm.
